Build Quality – casabrews espresso machine

The shell of the unit is stainless steel. Unit size is fairly compact so it’s not a problem to store under your kitchen units. The interface is clear and intuitive. Buttons and dials are well formed. The large centered pressure gauge is a pro quality level as is the 20 bar pressure pump. Main parts are easily detachable for fast cleaning. What is striking is how few flaws this machine actually has. The steam wand and grinder are both built of stainless steel.

Performance and Features – casabrews espresso machine

Steam Wand

The casabrews comes with a wand which delivers high level of concentrated steam. This means when you are making milk-foam the bubbles are micro-sized and so possess the ideal creamy silky texture. This is perfect set up for the creation of milk-foam art just like the baristas make. Just practice and it will be achieved with the steam wand. The actual steam temperature the system produces is 266 degrees Fahrenheit.

Heating System

The Thermocoil system with PID temperature control delivers accurate water temperature to 200 degrees Fahrenheit to help consistent tasty brews.

Drinks

The best drinks to make on this machine are Espressos, Cappuccinos, Americanos, Lattes, Mochas and flat whites. The whole process takes mere minutes.

Grinder

The in-built grind is a conical burr type that’s automatic and accurate. The grinder performance is impressive and easily copes with any of the 15 adjustable grind settings for regular sized beans. The whole process is rapid and efficient.

Also try to avoid the extra large coffee bean type as grinders commonly struggle to maintain an even grind consistency as optimum performance is realized with standard sized beans.

What’s also pleasing is the spare grinder that’s included!

Bean Hopper

Try to use the freshest coffee beans and don’t leave them in the hopper for too long. It is best to put just the right amount that you will using for the morning. Scales will also help you obtain the correct dosage.

Water Tank

The 92 oz water tank can be removed for re-filling and cleaning and is formed from ‘see-through’ heavy duty plastic. Water tank does not have a filter so a separate water filter or bottled water will have to suffice. In any case some prefer it that way.

Interface/Pressure Gauge

You can select hot water, steam or the pre-programmed single and double shot options. Buttons are back-lit. During the brewing process you can check pressure on the large and clear gauge to keep an eye on whether the needle is sitting in the right place and as such the brew will be extracting well enough and helps you to make adjustments from the gauge’s reading.

Italian Pump

The power of the pump delivers a more than good enough output of 1500W.

Portafilter

The unit is built ruggedly with a comfortable handle. The stainless steel filter body is high quality.

Final Verdict – Is the casabrews espresso machine worth it?

You need to experiment with the grinder’s sensitive settings which takes a few days to work out. Grind sizes are really your choice to choose to your individual taste requirements so 5-6 maybe good for some and 9 for others and so on.

Once you aware of the results from each grind setting it’s a rewarding experience honing your preferred brew style. Some people find the finer grind settings such as 7-8 not adequate for a thicker brew and report it to be of a watery consistency. However others like using setting 8 as that’s supposed to be the Company’s recommended grind! Setting 9 seems to be popular and is reportedly creamy and possesses good color. So there’s varying favorite settings.

The milk wand is powerful and handles everything you throw at it providing the milk is ideally around 2% and this will froth very well indeed(depends on what you’re after though as there’s so many so many parts to the equation. One other thing to remember is to steam out the milk after using the milk wand end. You have to put in the time to understand how to operate the milk froth wand because if you don’t you may well struggle to get the results.

The Key is experimentation and loads of tasting various grind settings and coffee bean types. Grind settings do depend heavily on the beans you are using so try as many as you can!

Experiment!

The Casabrews espresso machine requires some trials and errors to get an understanding of how it works. The instruction manual i wouldn’t advise following to the last. I would simply experiment. Practice packing the portafilter, getting your grinds right for your preferences. Get your milk frothing skills up there and you’ll have brews that are on par with high end cafes(perhaps not at Barista visual Latte art level)but same levels of crema, aroma, taste, layering and micro bubble milk-froth. So will come a satisfying payoff.

Final thoughts – casabrews espresso machine

So is the Casabrews 5700 Gense espresso machine worth it? Well it delivers performance and spec that matches its asking price. You get an effective brewing system with an amazing grinder. There’s enough well built accessories that come with the machine and with the added bonus of a spare grinder. As a bonus you get great customer service rarely found in this World today so it’s double worth it!
