Build Quality – moccamaster copper
The company states their machines are handmade. The Company is based at Amerongen in the Netherlands. All plastic parts of the machines are free of contaminates. The boiling elements are all copper and body shells are durable metal. The brew head is stainless steel. All machines, according to Moccamaster, are carefully inspected, before leaving the factory. The glass carafe is is not quite on par with Bodum glass quality and keeping coffee hot. Hence that’s why I believe you have the hotplate to compensate, for the lack of heat retention ability, of the glass carafe.
This sounds all positive. But what does the public feedback say? Well many users report on well made parts that are robust and durable. The steel body is of a high grade. The hotplate does work well but has a limited time before shut-off. There’s minimal plastic on the unit too. In fact, the whole machine has a minimalist feel and look to it. The machine’s design is stylish and looks great in most of its color range. The KBGV in the Copper/Rose Gold finish, is particularly pleasing, according to public reaction.

Performance and Features – moccamaster copper
Ease of use
Public feedback proves the Moccamaster KBGV is simple to operate. Many users state how simple it is to make a coffee. They love the simplicity of the design and minimal controls. You have only an off-on switch and a second switch for choosing a half or full carafe of coffee! Brilliantly simple.

Quick brewing
The KBGV delivers 10 cups of coffee in under 4 mins, which is impressive for a non-commercial machine. The brewing is not only quick; it’s nicely quiet.
Brew Quality
If you like your coffee nice and hot, you’ll be please with the holding temperature of the this machine. The public feedback is very positive. We are talking a consistent 200F! Many machines brew to around 180-90F, so it’s pleasing to see a machine that can maintain this temperature. The filter holder makes the coffee flow fast but also makes the perfect extraction duration. This means you get the best coffee taste rich with flavor and aroma.

Hotplate
The KBGV offers a hotplate for your carafe to sit on. User feedback states your coffee is kept to the consistent ideal temperature when carafe is stored on the dedicated hotplate. Though it does have a limited time of keeping your coffee hot. It’s 40 mins of consistent heated coffee, before hotplate shuts off.

Brew volume select
If you need a half full carafe just press the switch to the half full carafe icon. If you wish a full carafe, then press switch to the full carafe icon.

Drip Stop
When you remove the carafe, the filter-basket automatically stops the flow of coffee.

Who is the moccamaster copper best for?
To start off, if you like to count the precise amount of coffee or like playing with settings, this machine is not for you. If you like minimal design and operation and no fussing around to make a coffee, then you’ll be happy. There’s minimal electrics and parts. Nearly all parts are replaceable so your machine will last and last. If you want your coffee hot and I mean hot, then the hot plate and consistent temperature ability will satisfy you. You wish a hand built coffee machine then this machine ticks that box. Is is worth the asking price though?
Final Verdict – Is the moccamaster copper worth it?
When you view the price of a few hundred dollars/pounds, you have a hand-built machine from the Netherlands. You get a 10-cup coffee maker which brews a carafe full in under 4 mins. That’s pretty serious value for money. Mostly there’s positive public feedback to the quality of brews made on the KBGV machine.
You are buying a Dutch manufactured machine, to which its Company practices diligence to ensure their machines are carefully inspected, before leaving the factory. The minimal controls, to make a brew on this machine, ensure both simple and user friendly operation.
It’s getting rarer these days to find a machine that’s not built in China and one that’s highly affordable. On these merits alone, I would heartily recommend the KBGV drip machine. Just get a decent burr grinder and great beans and you’ll never look back!
